Who decides my dose?
Here, Dr. Carroll does — at every visit, based on how you are doing. Ask whether you will be speaking to a physician at all, or filling in a form.
What happens if the dose makes me feel awful?
You stay where you are, or you go back down. The label sets a minimum time between increases, not a maximum, so there is no rule saying you have to keep climbing. Ask what the alternative is — pushing through is not a plan.
What will it cost as my dose changes?
Your price rises with your dose, not with how long you have been a patient, and it is explained in full before you commit. Ask anyone quoting one headline figure what it excludes.
How often will I actually see the doctor?
Once a month, for as long as you are in treatment, and every visit is included in the price. Ask how many visits are included elsewhere, who they are with, and what happens between them.

What to know before you start

These medications work, and like any medication they have side effects. Dr. Carroll walks you through both before you start.

Nausea is common, and it's manageable

These effects cluster while the dose is climbing — which is exactly why Dr. Carroll climbs slowly. If something doesn't feel right, call the office and he'll call you back. The answer can be as simple as adjusting your dose.

Planning for after you reach your goal

Weight tends to return when these medications stop, so Dr. Carroll works out the next phase with you well before you get there. Maintenance means a lower dose twice a month and a visit once a month, at about half what treatment cost.

Getting started

  1. A first visit, about half an hour

    Time with Dr. Carroll to review your history, your other medications, and anything in your health that would make these drugs a bad idea for you. If it's safe to proceed, you'll talk about what you're trying to change. There's no charge for it.

  2. A decision, together

    If treatment makes sense for you, he explains the options, the cost and what to expect.

  3. Ongoing adjustment

    You're seen about once a month. Your dose changes only when you're ready for it.

Common questions

How much does the first visit with Dr. Carroll cost?

Nothing. The first visit is free, by telemedicine or in the office.

Will semaglutide or tirzepatide make me feel sick?

It might, especially early on and while the dose is going up — nausea is one of the most commonly reported effects. Most people who get it keep going, and the dose can be slowed or reduced if it's troubling you.

Can I get weight-loss medication through telemedicine?

Yes, as long as you're in Florida at the time of the visit. Most patients here are seen by telemedicine, including for a first visit. The Maitland office is there if you'd rather be seen in person.

Will I see the same doctor every time?

Yes. Dr. Carroll sees you himself — the first visit, the prescription, and every adjustment after it. You work with him directly, start to finish.

Do you take insurance, or do I have to pay for visits up front?

Treatment is paid for directly instead of through insurance, and there's no block of visits to buy up front. What you pay follows your dose.

Will I gain the weight back if I stop the medication?

It can. Weight tends to return when these medications stop, which is why Dr. Carroll plans the next phase with you early.
